Flash Horton Releases Masterpiece New EP, 'The Streets EP'

Flash Horton was born on a U.S. Air Force base in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, to a military family—his mother serving in the Air Force and his father in the Army. Raised primarily in Augusta, GA, he eventually settled in Raleigh, NC, where his musical journey began. Influenced by an eclectic range of genres, Flash's father introduced him to Hip-Hop, Funk, and R&B, while his mother filled his world with classic R&B and gospel. His older sister expanded his tastes further with Neo-soul and alternative rock. By his teenage years, Flash was venturing into new musical territories, exploring Crunk music, Alternative, and Punk Rock.

Flash's love for music took root during his high school years when he joined the marching band. Rising to the position of drumline captain, he led his team to four first-place finishes in competition. Alongside his percussion expertise, he began learning guitar, piano, and other instruments, laying a strong foundation for his musical skills. In college, Flash joined the drumline at North Carolina A&T State University, where close friends introduced him to DJing. This passion ignited further during a spring break trip to Panama City Beach, where he encountered electronic dance music and discovered a world of creative possibilities in sound.

After college, Flash immersed himself in producing and DJing, establishing himself at parties and clubs. Today, he dedicates his craft to almost all forms of dance music, while continuing to create within the genres that shaped him. Drawing from the sounds of his youth and the innovations of today, Flash has produced a variety of electronic tracks that push the boundaries of his sound.

This summer, he had the notable opportunity to open for Cosmic Gate at The Fruit in Durham, NC. His discography includes a range of singles across electronic genres, showcasing his commitment to exploring and mastering every style he encounters. His latest project, The Street EP, complements his previous high-energy EP, Track. While Track was inspired by the adrenaline of race tracks, Street takes a more introspective approach, crafted for relaxed drives and quiet moments. With genres spanning Deep House, Melodic Techno, Future Garage, and Disco House, Street is designed to balance the fast pace of Track. Each song reflects themes of personal reflection, love, and escape, with every title offering a glimpse into the unique mood and intention of the track.

In a world filled with distractions, Flash aims to create music that allows listeners to stay present. The Street EP wouldn’t have been complete without the vocal talents of singer-songwriter Dafne Martinez, who contributed to tracks like “Overtaking” and “Enchant,” adding depth and emotion to the project. Flash hopes Street resonates with listeners as a reminder that life, like music, is about finding balance and staying steady on life’s journey
